President Michelle Bachelet appoints Enrique Marshall as vice chairman of BancoEstado
The new member of the Executive Committee is a Commercial Engineer, holds a PhD in economics, and is an academic and consultant. Before his appointment, he was Vice- Chairman of the Governing Board of the Central Bank of Chile
President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet, appointed Mr. Enrique Marshall Rivera as Vice Chairman of BancoEstado. The announcement was made this morning by Finance Minister, Mr. Rodrigo Valdés.
The new member of the Executive Committee of our financial institution holds a degreein Commercial Engineering from the Universidad de Chile, and a PhD in economics from Notre Dame University in the USA.
Enrique Marshall was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Central Bank of Chile on February 2014, and has been a member of the Bank’s Governing Board since December 2005; he had previously been the general manager of the issuing bank.
Between March 2000 and August 2005 he held the post of Superintendent of Banks and Financial Institutions. He has also worked at private Banks, like the Banco de Talca, Banco O’Higgins and Banco de Santiago.
He has also been a university lecturer and was academic director of the Instituto de Estudios Bancarios Guillermo Subercaseaux
Enrique Marshall will take up his duties as Vice-Chairman of BancoEstado this coming 15 October.
Functions of the Vice Chairman of BancoEstado
The post of vice chairman has the exclusive confidence of the President of the Republic, and has as its main duties:
- Act for the chairman in case of absence, vacancy or any other cause that prevents this officer from performing his duties, without requiring approval from third parties. This subrogation will cover all the functions and faculties of the Chairman, including those which correspond to him by delegation, and
- Take on the functions and duties requested or delegated by the Governing Board and Committee.
