Jorge Rodríguez Grossi is appointed Chairman of BancoEstado
As of today, the former Minister of the Economy and former Board member of the Bank, will be member of this financial institution’s Executive Committee.
President Michelle Bachelet appointed Jorge Rodríguez Grossi as Chairman of BancoEstado, to replace Guillermo Larraín Rios.
The new Executive Committee member holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from Universidad de Chile, and an MA in Latin American Development Studies and in Economics from the University of Boston, USA.
He has extensive experience in the public sector: ha was Minister of the Economy, Minister of Energy, and Minister of Mining between 2001 and 2006. He has also been Undersecretary of Finance, Executive President of Codelco, Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior’s Regional Development Office, and Chairman of EFE, the State Railway Company
In the private area, he has been consultant to the World Bank and ECLA, and dean of the faculty of Economics and Business of Universidad Alberto Hurtado, a post which he holds today.
In addition to Rodríguez Grossi’s appointment, Enrique Marshall was appointed Vice Chairman of the Bank, effective on 15 October; they will both sit on the Executive Committee of this public institution, together with Jessica López.
