Ministry of Finance Felipe Larrain appoints Arturo Tagle as Chairman of BancoEstado
Ministry of Finance, Mr. Felipe Larrain, informed on Friday March 16, the appointment of Mr. Arturo Tagle as the new Chairperson of BancoEstado.
Mr. Arturo Tagle holds a bachelor degree in business from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and a MBA from University of Chicago.
Mr. Tagle joined Banco de Chile in 1995 and held the Chief Executive Officer position between 2010 and 2016, in addition to hold the CEO post at Sociedad Matriz del Banco de Chile between 1996 and March 2017.
Between 1990 and 1994, Mr. Tagle worked as CEO of Asociación de Bancos e Instituciones Financieras (ABIF) and, between 1984 and 1989 as a Research Manager at Superintendencia de Bancos e Instituciones Financieras (SBIF), becoming later on, a board member of it.
At the time of this appointment, he held the CEO post at Sociedad Matriz del Banco de Chile, Vice-Chariman of the directive board at institute Inacap and a board of director’s membership at Confuturo Compañía de Seguros de Vida.
Upon his latest appointment, the Ministry of Finance highlighted the track record of Mr. Tagle in the banking industry and stated that one of his core challenges will be to continue making further progress on matters of banking inclusion.
Mr. Tagle thanked the appointment of President of the Republic, Mr. Sebastian Piñera, and said to take on this new post with full responsibility and humility. “BancoEstado plays a very important role in the country, has accomplished outstanding changes on banking and it is essential to continue pursuing at it”.
